Mahindra & Mahindra has delivered a strong statement of intent in the Indian SUV market by opening bookings for two highly anticipated models—the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Mahindra XEV 9S. Remarkably, within just a few hours of bookings going live, the company recorded 93,689 confirmed orders. Moreover, these bookings translate into a cumulative value of over Rs 20,500 crore at ex-showroom prices, highlighting immense customer confidence.
Meanwhile, Mahindra has already begun customer deliveries of the XUV 7XO from today. However, buyers of the electric XEV 9S will need to wait slightly longer, as deliveries are scheduled to commence from January 26. Consequently, Mahindra continues to manage demand carefully while ramping up production.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Price, Variants, and Availability
The Mahindra XUV 7XO, which serves as the flagship internal combustion SUV in Mahindra’s lineup, is priced between Rs 13.66 lakh and Rs 24.92 lakh (ex-showroom). Importantly, this pricing is introductory and applies only to the first 40,000 customer deliveries. Therefore, early buyers enjoy a clear advantage.
Additionally, Mahindra offers the XUV 7XO in six variants: AX, AX3, AX5, AX7, AX7T, and AX7L. Currently, deliveries have begun for the top-end AX7, AX7T, and AX7L trims. On the other hand, customers opting for lower-spec variants will start receiving their vehicles from April onwards.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Engine, Gearbox, and Driving Modes
Under the hood, the XUV 7XO continues to build on the proven mechanical foundation of the XUV700. Moreover, Mahindra offers two powerful and refined engine options. The petrol variant uses a 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi engine producing 200 hp and 380 Nm. Meanwhile, diesel buyers get the 2.2-litre mHawk engine delivering up to 182 hp and 450 Nm of torque, depending on the variant.
Additionally, buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic. Consequently, the SUV caters to both driving enthusiasts and comfort-focused users. Furthermore, select diesel variants also offer an all-wheel-drive option, enhancing off-road capability.
To adapt to varying driving conditions, Mahindra equips the XUV 7XO with three drive modes—Zip, Zap, and Zoom. Therefore, drivers can switch between efficiency, balance, and performance with ease.
Mahindra XEV 9S Electric SUV Overview
While the XUV 7XO caters to ICE loyalists, the Mahindra XEV 9S targets buyers ready to embrace electric mobility. This model becomes Mahindra’s third electric SUV based on the advanced INGLO platform, following the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Moreover, its design and specifications position it as a premium long-range EV.
The XEV 9S is priced between Rs 19.95 lakh and Rs 29.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Consequently, it competes directly with other high-end electric SUVs while offering Mahindra’s trusted engineering.
Mahindra XEV 9S Battery Options, Range, and Charging
Mahindra offers the XEV 9S with three LFP battery pack options—59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. Moreover, the company claims a real-world driving range of around 500 km, making it suitable for both city commutes and highway trips.
In addition, the XEV 9S supports fast charging, enabling a 20 to 80 percent charge in just 20 minutes. Therefore, long-distance travel becomes significantly more practical for EV owners.
Power output varies across battery packs. The 59 kWh version produces 170 kW, the 70 kWh pack delivers 180 kW, and the top-spec 79 kWh variant generates an impressive 210 kW. Consequently, performance remains strong across the lineup.
